Choose the depth you need

When you have course access, choose Conceptual Understanding, Independent Problem Solving or Derivation and Transfer in the depth selector. These differ from the Read, Work and Review workspace views.

Conceptual Understanding: build the picture

Choose Conceptual Understanding to name the objects, assumptions and relationships before manipulating a method. It is useful when the topic is new or your earlier knowledge feels disconnected.

Independent Problem Solving: use the idea

Choose Independent Problem Solving for concrete problems. State the condition you used and the claim your calculation supports, rather than reporting only a final number.

Derivation and Transfer: test the structure

Choose Derivation and Transfer when you need to establish why a result follows and try the argument in a related setting. A transfer task checks whether the structure travels beyond its first example.
